TO ELECT A CHAIRPERSON

To elect a Chair of the L.E.A. Governors (Appointments) Committee for the 2023-24 Municipal year.

Cofnodion:

RESOLVED to elect County Borough Councillor R. Lewis as Chair of the Local Education Authority Governors (Appointments) Committee for the 2023-24 municipal year.

TO ELECT A VICE CHAIRPERSON

To appoint a Vice-Chair of the L.E.A. Governors (Appointments) Committee for the 2023-24 Municipal year.

Cofnodion:

RESOLVED to appoint County Borough Councillor G. Stacey as Vice-Chair of the Local Education Authority Governors (Appointments) Committee for the 2023 – 24 municipal year.

To receive the minutes of the previous meeting of the Local Education Authority Governors Appointments Committee held on 28th March 2023.

Cofnodion:

It was RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the 28th March 2023 as an accurate reflection of the meeting.

TO CONSIDER PASSING THE UNDER-MENTIONED RESOLUTION: -

“That the press and public be excluded from the meeting under Section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972 for the next item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in Paragraph 12 Schedule 12(A) of the Act.”

Cofnodion:

RESOLVED that the press and public be excluded from the meeting under Section 100A (4) of the Local Government Act 1972 for the following item of business on the grounds that it involves the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph 13 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act (as amended), namely, information relating to a particular individual. Transparency in the conduct of Local Authority business is desirable, however, personal data relating to the conduct and capabilities of individuals will be discussed and considered. Consequently, it is considered the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs and the public interest in disclosing information.

APPLICATION FOR APPOINTMENT OF LOCAL EDUCATION AUTHORITY GOVERNORS

To consider applications for the appointment of Local Education Authority Governors.

Cofnodion:

In her report, the School Organisation and Governance Team Leader advised the Committee of applications received for Local Education Authority governorships.

MATERION BRYS

To consider any items, which the Chairman, by reason of special circumstances, is of the opinion should be considered at the meeting as a matter of urgency.

Cofnodion:

Members were advised that Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council has launched an online Virtual School, a vital new operational tool which supports local schools in the education of care-experienced children and young people.

 

Furthermore, that the Virtual School team is working collaboratively with a number of stakeholders and is currently establishing a Multi-Agency Management Committee which will act as a critical friend to the online school, providing an additional layer of scrutiny.   

 

Following discussions, Members RESOLVED to appoint both Cllr G. Caple and Cllr R. Lewis to the Committee.
